Firefighters battle two separate blazes in north Dublin

Within the last hour, units have been called to separate fires at residential flats within close proximity to each other.

UNITS FROM THE Dublin Fire Brigade battled two blazes in north Dublin this evening.

Units have been called to separate fires at residential units within close proximity to each other.

Four fire pumps and a turntable ladder responded from Phibsboro, Dolphin’s Barn and Tara Street to a fire at a derelict apartment building in O’Devaney Gardens.

It was initially thought that there were people in the building but it appears that there were no civilians involved.

The fire was later extinguished.

Firefighters also tackled another blaze in a nearby basement flat at a hostel on Parkgate Street – beside the Central Criminal Courts of Justice.

There were people in the building at the time of the fire breaking out – however, DFB says that all persons are accounted for.

Four fire pumps and a turntable ladder unit attended that fire also, before it was brought under control.

There are no injuries reported as a result of the fires.
